Happy 3rd Birthday, Luke

Sleeps 10 hours at night, takes a 1.5 hour-2 hour nap in the afternoon, he is usually up by 0700.We put both boys to bed by 2000. They talk for a few minutes before going to bed.

He takes a nap between 1230-1455 when we have to pick Davis up from school. Most days he plays a little bit before nap.

At his three year appointment with Dr. Shockley, weighed 34 pounds 13 ounces (79% for kids his age) and was 38.29 inches tall (71%). He gained almost 5 pounds and grew almost 2 inches taller in the last year!

The house is so quiet when Davis is at school but I think he enjoys playing by himself!

He loves Allison, he calls her Baby Allison. When I nurse her he likes to play with the Alphabet game.

Can say his ABCs and can count to twelve. (he gets 7 and 11 mixed up)

Loves puzzles, he will work on them for a long time and is so proud when he is done.

Happy 3rd Birthday, Luke!

Luke was so excited for his birthday. He wanted a Paw Patrol birthday.He laughed and laughed when we sang Happy Birthday to him! Remember last year?

The boy quotes

Davis has had some pretty funny quotes and questions the last few days:

May 18: When we were descending into the Sanford area, the boy said loudly, "The plane is going down, look the plane is going down!" I quickly corrected him to say it was descending. The guy next to us got a laugh out of it.

May 22: At lunch today the boy was watching the birds at the bird feeder, he asked me "Did Granddaddy paint the birds red?"

 May 24: Another question from the boy today: this morning at church he looked at the choir and asked, "Mommy, why are those humans lined up?"

The boys' daily routine

I left these instructions of our typical routine for Granny, Granddaddy, Grampa and Granna while Jason and I were gone to Hawaii.

Luke:

• 0730: Up but plays happily in crib
• Breakfast:  Whole milk, warm up milk for 30 seconds and banana for breakfast, he will gladly eat whatever you make for yourself.
• Morning play time, run errands, or go off.
• 0930 to 1000ish start of morning nap: lately he has not been taking a morning nap. If he is up real early or awake in the night he may need one. If you keep him busy and have snacks he can make it until his afternoon nap! If it’s after 10, I would just keep him up and put him down close to 1200.
• If he does take a morning nap. don’t let him sleep longer than 1 ½ hours.If he takes a long morning nap, the afternoon nap is messed up and he will be ready for bed too early!
• 1100-1130: Lunch with whole milk
• Half a sandwich (peanut butter and jelly or ham/mustard), fruit (grapes need to be cut up) and cheese. He will eat anything though
• Play time
• 1200-1230: Start of nap routine. clean diaper, sleep sack, bedtime songs, crib with pillow pet, taggie blanket, yellow blanket and giraffe.
• Most of the time I do this together with Davis. Read in Davis’ room and then start Luke’s bedtime routine while Davis gathers whatever he wants for bed.
• Bedtime songs: Jesus Loves Me, The B-I-B-L-E, Jesus Loves The Little Children, I Love You Lord.
• Sometimes Luke will run to his room, grab his taggie blanket and bring it to you with his thumb in his mouth. That is another sign that he is ready for bed!
• If he does take a morning nap, afternoon nap should be between 1330-1400 or 2-3 hours after waking up.
• 1430-1500: Up from nap.
• Snack and milk or water when he wakes up
• Afternoon play time
• 1700-1730: Dinner
• Playtime, walk to mailbox
• Our mailbox is the group next to the package bins, #12. Keys are in 4Runner and stroller.
• 1830-1845: Bathtime, jammies, bottle (usually just a sip), brush teeth (sing God Is So Good while brushing teeth), and read book/songs then bed.
• Sometimes he acts wired during songs but still put him to bed.
   

No more than 2 full bottles a day, may have water in between

Davis

• 0630-0700: he’ll come find you
• Send him potty
• Can watch a show or movie while you get breakfast ready!
• Breakfast: Milk (1%) Granola bar and eggs. He sometimes will eat what you make for yourself
• Morning play time, run errands, or go off.
• If you go off, pack a snack and water
• Snack at 1000, he'll ask for it! Yogurt, applesauce or fruit if he didn't eat a good breakfast. Goldfish or whatever he requests if he did eat a good breakfast.
• 1100-1130: Lunch is usually close to 11.
• Pbj or ham/mustard, fruit, pickle, chips after eats most of the sandwich

• Play time
• 1230: Start of nap routines
• Start nap routine with both boys in Davis’ room for story time.
• Will put Luke down while Davis goes potty, gathers a few cars or trains for bed
• He may play quietly in his room for 1 to 1 1/2 hours. He needs to stay in his room alone for this quiet time. He may have water in his sippy cup.
• Bedtime songs: Jesus Loves Me, The B-I-B-L-E, Jesus Loves The Little Children, I Love You Lord.
• Snack time when he wakes up or Luke gets up
• Afternoon play time
• 1700-1730: Dinner
• Playtime, rides bike to mailbox
• 1900: Bath when Luke is going to bed
• Doesn't have to have one every night unless he is real dirty
• Usually will ask for a snack, leave dinner plate out if he hardly ate, if he did eat good, may have yogurt, applesauce, or mandarin oranges.

• 1930: Bedtime if he didn’t nap
• 2000: Bedtime if he did nap
• If he naps make a big deal about how he gets to stay up late because he had a good nap

• At 1930 or 2000, brush teeth, read/songs/pray. He may have water in his sippy cup.

Potty

• Send him potty when he wakes up or wakes you up.
• Before or after breakfast
• Then usually about every hour or so when we are changing what we are doing (going downstairs, outside, leaving to run errands, before snack time, etc)
• Pullups for naps, bedtime and when we go off.
• Remind him to go poop in the potty. Usually first thing in the morning or after lunch.

Davis has started coming up with reasons to get bandaids or medicine. We finally have had to tell him he only gets a bandaid if he is bleeding. One day he was asking for medicine because his "eyes were clicking."

The boy: "The laundry basket is in here, I'll bring it to you."
The boy: "Here it is, Dad, uh, Mommy, whatever your name is!"

Let it snow!

Earlier this week, we had our first snow this season, we brought some snow inside to play. Davis had so much fun while Luke was napping!

Saturday afternoon we had our first Winter Storm and we woke up on Sunday to a White November! Davis was begging to play in the snow on the way home from church. He was very excited! He ran all around the yard, tried sledding, and rolled around in the snow. We started to build a snow man but he was more interested in running around!

Bike ride adventures

These days we can't just take a quick walk around the neighborhood. It turns into an evening adventure! The boy has to ride through puddles, pick and then blow dandelions, ride down the bumpy driveway and pick leaves to keep!

Work again!

Conversation tonight as Jason was leaving for a work dinner:

Davis: "Where are you going, Daddy?"

Daddy: "I am going to dinner for work."

Davis: "You are going to work again?"

Daddy: "Yes."

Davis: "But you have to work tomorrow!"

My, how time flies...June 16: 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014

 

Davis sleeps about 10 hours at night. He is usually in bed by 2000 and will get up between 0600-0700. He takes almost a 2 hour nap in the afternoon around 1230. I have learned if I put him to bed closer to 1200 he goes to sleep without any problems. For naps we have to round up all of his cars and a fresh cup of water. He carries them around in his Lightning McQueen Easter basket. 

At his three year appointment with Dr. Shockley, weighed 31.4 pounds (46% for kids his age) and was 39.25 inches tall (87%). He gained 5 pounds and grew 3 inches taller in the last year!

Davis' favorite snacks are granola bars and goldfish. By 1045 he asking for me to make lunch. Lunch favorites are peanut butter & jelly. Other favorite foods are pasta, sausage, hot dogs and pickles. 

Now that it is nice out he loves being outside. He had been enjoying his balance bike and can go so fast down the driveway.

He is quite the social one and loves being around other kids.

Favorite sayings: gomote (remote), my entertainment (rope with hooks we use to shut the gate on the deck), at all, Aunt Stacy!

Has even asked to take a selfie!

Loves to interact and entertain Luke. Luke just lights up as long as he doesn't get too close!

Happy 3rd Birthday, Davis!

Poor buddy was not impressed that he had to wait all day for birthday cake. He woke me up that morning and I said, "Happy Birthday!" He immediately asked, "Birthday?" (meaning birthday cake). It was worth the wait!
