Twelve months old: Happy Birthday, Luke

Eats:

• Four sippy cups a day, with meals and after his afternoon nap
• Started whole milk a few weeks early and prefers it warmed up!
• Loves solids and eats everything that is offered

Sleeps:

• 14.1/2 to 16 hours in a 24 hour period
• He is consistently sleeping 12-13 hours straight!
• We start our day by 0800 and he is in bed by 1930. 
• His nap times are pretty consistent (0930 and 1330 or if he sleeps in 1030 and 1430)
• Sleeps about 100 minutes for both naps 

Tidbits from this month:

• At his one year appointment, weighed 22 pounds 4 ounces (62nd percentile for kids his age, 30 1/4 inches long (59%), and head circumference is 17 3/4  (20%).
• Moving into 18 month clothes and size 4 diaper

• New word this month is ball and will repeat bat 
• Will take a few steps before deciding crawling is a faster option. 

Twelve months old. Happy Birthday, Davis!

Davis is sleeping 14 1/2 to 16 1/2 hours in a 24 hour period (most nights 12 hours straight). He drinks his milk from the sippy cup at breakfast and lunch. He will have a bottle after afternoon nap and before bed.  His naps are still consistent (two to two and a half hours after waking) and he usually sleeps up to two hours with each nap. This month he started going to bed later and sleeping in until 0800! Here are tidbits from this month:

• At his one year appointment, weighed 19 pounds 8 ounces (5th percentile for kids his age), 31 inches long (75%), and head circumference is 18.5 (50-75%)
• Loves solids and will eat most anything. Although on our trip to Florida he ate green beans at several different restaurants so he does not like Mommy's plain green beans anymore.  
• Has started saying B's and T's, says Daddy instead of Dada
• Calls every dog DeDe.
• Thinks it is pretty funny to get his teeth brushed
• Had so much fun on our trip to Florida at the zoo, St. Augustine Beach, and Granddaddy's pool

 

• Will growl when asked (thanks to Uncle Nick)
• Will shake his head no (thanks to cousin Seth and Hannah)
• Will give high fives (thanks to Granna and Grampa)

• Celebrated his birthday on Memorial Day. He loved the cake!

Dear Davis:

I cannot believe that your birthday is tomorrow! I have loved watching you change, grow, and learn new things. You are so sweet and so happy. You are always smiling unless I am late with your food! You adore Daddy. You love your routine and you have always been a great sleeper! Oh little one, your Mommy and Daddy love and adore you! You are my pride and joy and I love you more than I could have ever imagined

A Charlie Brown Birthday

On Memorial Day, we had a barbecue with my extended family, Jason's parents and sister. It was a wonderful time to visit with family and for them to see Davis eating his birthday cake.

Since I called Davis, "Charlie Brown" during the pregnancy, the theme to his First Birthday party was pretty easy. Unfortunately I had a hard time finding Charlie Brown stuff for his party. I had given up doing it and was going to go with John Deere. Thankfully my sister in law was telling me that a Charlie Brown birthday party could be done. She even recommended Pickard Cakes to do the cake and she had ideas for the decor. Jennifer put me in touch with Julie and voila, a Charlie Brown Birthday was created!

Davis loved his cake. He wasn't too sure at first while everyone was singing Happy Birthday to him.

With a little help from Mommy, he was ready to eat!

As you can see, he loved it!

It was so nice to be able to celebrate his first birthday with both our families!

St. Augustine

We rented a condo at Ocean Gallery in St. Augustine during our last full week in Florida. It was a wonderful time for our little family. St. Augustine has always been one of my favorite places especially since we spent the day we got engaged there!

After breakfast with Granny we left for the beach so Davis could take his morning nap in the car. We grabbed a quick bite to eat and then checked into our condo. We wasted no time in going to the pool.

We spent a good 45 minutes in the pool and then went back to the condo so Davis could take his afternoon nap and I could go to Publix to stock up on groceries. Stephanie, Nick and Hannah joined us for dinner that night, another swim in the pool and a visit.

Our Tuesday morning adventure was Fort Matanzas. We took the first ferry over to explore the fort.

We got back to the condo in time for Davis' morning nap and then after lunch we took Davis to the beach. The wagon was perfect for the beach and taking Davis to and from the pool.

Davis loved the beach. He did not mind the sand or the waves and loved playing in the water. I thought the waves may scare him but he was fearless. He kept walking deeper and deeper. We would move him to the edge and he would walk straight to it over and over!

After his afternoon nap we went into St. Augustine to walk down St. George Street, go by the fort to take a very special picture and get ice cream!

On Wednesday, we spent more time at the pool and then went to the outlet mall before dinner. On Thursday, Aunt Jennifer came down for the day so we all went shopping at the outlet mall again and then spent time at the pool and beach.

On Friday, Grampa and Granna came down and joined us for the day. Our morning adventure was the beach and the pool.

 

 

 
 The beach and pool wore out the little boy so we wrapped him up in his towel and put him down for his morning nap before we had to check out.

While Davis napped, Granna and I went to the beach. After we checked out, we all went to The Conch House. This is a special restaurant to us because that's where we ate dinner the night we got engaged!'
