Two months old

Sweet girl, you are two months old!

Allison nurses every 2-3.5 hours. She will cluster feed (1-1.5 hours) in the evenings. At night she will have one long stretch of 5-6 hours between feeds. Towards the end of this month, I started setting my alarm to wake her up to nurse at night or she would sleep longer!

At her two month visit with Dr. Shockley, she was 9 pounds 7 ounces (4th percentile for kids her age), 21.5 inches long (5%) and head circumference was 38 cm (30%).

Allison sleeps 15-18 hours in a 24 hour period. I call her Sleeping Beauty because it seems like she sleeps so much!

I wake her up at 0755 to take Davis to school. She nurses and then is awake and happy for about 1 1/2 hours. During her awake time, she goes to her stations: boppy, swing and play gym.

She has a long morning nap, awake and plays for another 1 1/2 hours and then has an afternoon nap. Most days the afternoon nap is the same time as Luke's so I get to nap, too! I wake her up before 1500 to pick up Davis from school. She takes two more shorter naps usually while nursing. She is pretty fussy in the early evenings from supper until bedtime. Bedtime is anywhere from 2030-2130.

She sleeps in the pack n play in our room. Some nights when I am exhausted she starts the night on my chest and  then I will put her in the pack n play. We have found she sleeps better on her belly.

The first part of this month I would catch smiles in her sleep but by her two month birthday she would smile when spoken to!

 Davis and Luke do great with Allison. They love to hold her and talk to her.

Luke wrote on both sides of her face and his face. I should have taken a picture of them together!

She waves her arms all around. It looks like she is directing an orchestra!

Two months old

At his two month visit with Dr. Shockley, Luke weighed 11 pounds 3 ounces (31% for babies his age), 22.5 inches long (37%), and head circumference was 15 inches (27%).

Luke nurses every 2-3.5 hours during the day. He has a longer stretch of 3.5-4.5 hours with his afternoon nap and will cluster feed in the evenings. At night he has one long stretch between feeds (6.5-8.5 hours) and then a shorter stretch.

Luke sleeps 13.5-15 hours in a 24 hour period. He does well sleeping in his crib. He is usually up for the day by 0730 and will be awake and alert for about 1.5 hours before he starts getting tired and fussy

Kim West's Good Night Sleep Tight has helped to get him in a good routine. As soon as I put the sleep sack on, he settles right in for nap.

He takes a morning nap around 0900 and an afternoon nap around 1300. He will sleep 1.5-2 hours in the morning and 2-3 hours in the afternoon. He will take one more little nap around suppertime. We start our bedtime routine by 1900 with bath time with Davis. He is asleep between 1930-2000. Since I stopped eating sausage he isn't nearly as fussy in the evenings.

 Here are tidbits from this month:

• Wears mostly 0-3 month clothes and some 6 month clothes, size 1 diaper
• He is my cuddlebug! He will be fussing and as soon as he gets picked up and cuddled in he will settle right down!
• Is not a fan of the car seat
• Sleeps on his tummy
• Has the sweetest smile!

Since Davis loved his Christmas jammies, I couldn't resist in buying the boys matching jammies for Valentine's Day.

Over the last week Luke has started smiling! I finally was able to get a picture and video.

Two Months Old

At the beginning of this month, we had Operation Plump Davis Up because he was not gaining weight like he should. We spent a good three hours at the hospital on my 30th birthday with the lactation consultant and then with Dr Wahidi. At the beginning of Operation Plump Davis Up he was only 7#8 ounces.

He also was diagnosed with trachemalacia. Basically, it's a floppy trachea in which he will grow out of it. He will breathe very loudly while nursing and has occasional stridor but it does not seem to bother him. After a week of more frequent feeds, pumping and supplementation his weight gain took off. Now he is supplementing usually once a day.

Davis is sleeping an average of 12-15 hours in a 24 hour period and does well sleeping at night, We start our bedtime routine around 1930 by giving him a bath, nursing and some nights supplementing, reading My Little One, and then bedtime prayers. He is usually in the pack n play between 2030-2130.  He sleeps for 4-7 hours straight at night. When I nurse him, he will barely wake up and usually goes right back to sleep. In the mornings, he will wake us up not because he is crying but because of his gas. He will be tooting away! Loudly. We usually start our day around 0900-1000.

He takes a long late morning nap and an afternoon nap with a few short naps in between usually while nursing.

Kim West's Good Night, Sleep Tight has really helped getting Davis on a good schedule. Davis is usually pretty fussy between dinnertime and bedtime.

You can definitely tell a difference in him from one month old to now. Davis is quite the smiler now. The cutest thing is when he is nursing he will stare straight into my eyes and then start smiling. He will be smiling so much he won't eat!

He can hold his head up very well. His legs are so strong and he wants to be able to move around so much. He is quite the jumper when he is gassy. He has become a Momma's boy over the last couple of weeks. Just in the last week, he can move from his back to his side very well, really started "talking" more, and his newborn clothes are getting quite snug on him.

At his two month appointment, Davis weighed 10 pounds which is in the 10% for babies his age, he was 23 1/4 inches long (50-75%), and his head circumference was 15 3/4 (50%).
