Eight months old

Allison nurses every 2-3 hours during the day. At night I wake her up 7-8 hours after the last feed and then she will go 3-4 more hours. 

Allison sleeps 12-14 hours (10 hours at night) in a 24 hour period. She has started waking up by 0700. Her morning naps are hit or miss now. Sometimes she will only sleep 30-45 minutes while nursing and then be up until 1130. On days she doesn't take a good morning nap, she will take a longer afternoon nap. Bath time starts by 1900 and she is ready for bed by 2030. 

Other tidbits from this month:

• Weighs over 12 pounds
• Got first tooth (bottom right incisor)
• Loves solids but I have to spoon feed her. We gave her puffs so she could feed herself while I ate and little stinker waits for me to give them to her!

• Has eaten green beans, white potatoes, peaches, asparagus, carrots, mango, parsnips and prunes.

Eigtht months old

Eats:

• Nurses and bottle feeds every 3-4 hours during the day. 
• Over the course of this month, has become less interested in nursing and prefers the bottle :(
• Most nights will wake up around 0300-0400 to eat.
• New foods this month: asparagus, green beans, white potatoes, peaches, cottage cheese. 
• Luke loves solids and feeds himself. When we spoon fed him the puree foods, we couldn't give him the food fast enough! Instead I cut it up and let him feed himself. As long as there is food in the middle of his tray, he is a happy camper!

 

Sleeps

• 13-15 hours in a 24 hour period.
• has continued to wake up one or two times at night and will go back to sleep after eating.
• Takes a morning and afternoon nap about 1-2 hours each. He sometimes needs a short late afternoon nap.
• In bed by 1930 and up between 0630-0700.

Tidbits from this month:

• Weighed 15 pounds 10 ounces a few weeks ago
• Moving into 6-9 month clothes and size 3 diaper
• A top tooth has come through, but not the typical middle tooth, the one next to it!
• Says Es and Ba ba
• Newest trick is pulling up to a standing position

• He gets so loud when playing. We think he is even louder than Davis ever was (if that's possible!)
• Favorite toys this month are electronics, air conditioning vents and hanging out under the table

•  He loves to crawl over to whoever is near and have them help him stand

•  Loves to swing. He just grins and laughs

•  The brothers have so much fun with one another. The big thing now is to keep Davis from taking whatever toy Luke is playing with away.

When Luke is playing on the floor, he can be so loud. This isn't even as loud as he usually is!

A day in the life of a seven month old

I like to write down "A Day in the Life of..." every once in awhile. It is so fun to look back now on what I thought then was a busy day! I first did a typical day on our 2nd anniversary. when Davis was 7 months old and 16 months old.

0205: Wakes up for a middle of night feed, back asleep within 30 minutes

0700: Stirring in his crib

0735:

Another feeding and then play time in the living room while I cook breakfast and unload dishwasher.

0840: Breakfast

Playtime for a few minutes while the kitchen is cleaned up. Then it is time to unwind for morning nap around 0900.

0940:

Vacuum time!

1040: Up from morning nap

Another feeding, then playtime while I fix lunch. For lunch, he eats peas for the first time and carrots. After lunch he plays happily with Davis

1140:

More playtime on the floor and then it's time to get the boys ready for afternoon nap/

1240:

1340: Ah, both boys are napping!

1430: Getting up from afternoon nap

Another feeding and then it's playtime while I fold laundry and wait for Davis to wake up

1545

Daddy comes home and I get ready to leave to get my haircut. Luke goes back to bed for a short late afternoon nap. He gets a bottle since he didn't want to take a nap. He is napping when I get home and we fix dinner. 

1745:

Shortly after this he wakes up and we have dinner. He eats peas and carrots again. He stays with Daddy while I clean up the kitchen and every time I look into the living room he is just staring at me!

1845:

So happy that I am done in the kitchen!

He plays happily in the living room when we are on the floor with him. When he starts getting tired, it is time for bath, jammies, and story time. He gets one more feeding before bed.

1945:

Clean boys, a full belly, bedtime book and bedtime songs, he is ready for bed!

2000: Asleep

We usually start our bedtime routine by 1900 but he took a late afternoon nap so that through us off!

Eight Months Old

Davis is sleeping mostly 13-15 hours in a 24 hour period. He has started waking up to eat late at night but will usually go right back to sleep. He nurses and bottle feeds four times a day: first thing in the morning, after both naps, and before bed. He eats solids three times a day. He barely nurses for any significant amount of time :( Morning naps are very consistent, the usually last 1 1/2 to 2 hours and the afternoon naps are anywhere from 40 minutes to 1 1/2. We start our bedtime routine at 1830 with a bath and he knows it is time to start unwinding.

Here are tidbits about Davis this month:

•  Weighs around 16 pounds. Wears 6-9 months clothes.
• Loves solids: introduced to asparagus, green beans, white potatoes, peaches, puffs and cottage cheese

• In a week's span he figured out how to move his hands forward to all out crawling!
• Now that he is crawling and into more stuff everything, we have to say "No!" to him particularly for playing with cords, paper and the electronics.  
• Is very busy when playing, he is in a different spot every time I get a picture

 

• Adores Bella....cannot say she feels the same way. Bella is very timid around him

•  Has a new look....we call it the Zoolander look!

• Sounds like he says. "huh" when looking for Mommy or Daddy or trying to figure something out
• Loves going to church and will sing along with the music. 
• In the car, will tilt his head back to stare at us

• I compare changing his diaper to wrestling an alligator, he immediately wants to flip over and move away.
• Loves baths. started sinking down into the water until it is up to his chin and loves splashing in the water, playing with bath toys, and staring at his reflection.
