Six months old

Allison nurses every 2-3 hours during the day. At night I wake her up 7 hours after the last feed and then she will go 3-4 more hours. She has gone 8-9 hours between feeds a few times.  She woke up more during the night when she was sick and in the hospital.

Allison sleeps 12-14 hours in a 24 hour period. She has started waking up by 0700. Her morning naps are hit or miss now. Sometimes she will only sleep 30-45 minutes while nursing and then be up until 1130. On days she doesn't take a good morning nap, she will sleep 3-4 hours. Bath time starts by 1930 and she is usually ready for bed by 2030. I nurse her one more time and then she is in the crib by 2100. This month I want to get more consistent in our bathtime/bedtime routine.

Other tidbits from this month:

• Weighed 11#8.7 oz (0.20%), 25 inches long (11%) and head circumference 16.5 inches (9%) at her six month check up
• So ticklish under her neck, she laughs as I am changing her shirt.
• started rolling both ways and rolls all over her gym

• Favorite toy is her purse Granny got her for Christmas. She loves crinkling it.

• Was hospitalized for Rhinovirus. Poor thing was working so hard to breathe and needed oxygen. After two trips to the ER and four nights in the hospital, steroids, antibiotics, breathing treatments and Tylenol helped her get better.

• She really missed her brothers. I think she got bored without them around!

• Loves exploring faces (especially Daddy's goatee)
• 

•  Sits up for a little bit with boppy

•   Found her feet

• Loves being outside and stroller rides around the neighborhood. She will be fussing in the house and stops once we are outside.

Six Months Old

What a difference in hair!

Nurses:

• 2-3 hours during the day and most feeds will supplement afterwards
• longer stretch of 3-4 hours with his afternoon nap
• cluster feeds first thing in morning and evenings
• at night long stretch of 8-11 hours between feeds and then a shorter stretch of 3.5-5.5 hours

  Sleeps

• Sleeps 13-15 hours in a 24 hour period
• Night will sleep 8-11 hours straight. He was up more when we were traveling but would go right back to sleep after eating
• Morning and afternoon naps last about 45 minutes-2.5 hours
• In bed by 1930 and will be awake between 0630-0730

 Tidbits from this month:

• At his 6 month checkup, weighed 13#12 ounces (1% for kids his age), 26.5 inches long (36%) and head circumference is 16.5 inches (9%).
• Cut his first two bottom teeth over the last week.
• Started making the razz sound and spitting everywhere
• Loves to sing, especially in the car seat and in his crib
• Will just stare into the kitchen at me when I am cooking or cleaning
• Would rather roll around than sit up. Lasts a couple of minutes with the boppy around him before he is rolling all around. 
• Just in the last week has started trying to crawl

• Favorite toy is his bird that he can pull down

• Started solids a few weeks early. Has eaten bananas, avocado, and squash

 

Six Months Old

Davis is sleeping 13-14 hours in a 24 hour period. He sleeps 11-12 hours straight at night. We had to start supplementing again because on our trip to Florida he lost weight :( He eats every 2-3 hours during the day and is asleep by 1900 and up by 0730. Finally the naps are more consistent. He usually is up for two hours in the morning playing and then will go right to sleep for his morning nap He then is awake for two-three hours before he takes his afternoon nap. Both naps last between 45 minutes to 1 1/2 hours long. Not long after he gets up from his afternoon nap, Daddy comes home and he plays with him while Mommy cooks dinner. We eat dinner by 1730 and start our bedtime routine around 1830.

He will grab anything within reach, particularly when he is supposed to be nursing. If there is anything on the couch, before I know it he will be playing with it.

•  Very interested in our food. Now that he is six months old, we will start solids.

• Can sit up in small spurts on his own and even longer with the boppy propping him up.

• All of this new things are wearing the boy out, He has started rubbing his eyes or even laying his head down when he is tired

•  Davis has started to yawn really loud, too (just like his mommy!).
• The boy's unconventional way of getting around but it works. He started out sitting up with the boppy around him. Ten minutes later had scooted in between the laundry.

At his six month appointment, weighs 13 pounds 11 ounces (2nd percentile), 26 inches long (35%) and head circumference is 17 1/4 (52%)
